Dry Stone Walls
DRY STONE WALLS are as common in the highland areas of Britain as are hedges in the lowlands. I photographed these in the Yorkshire Dales. Dry stone walling is an ancient craft in which no cement is used, but the walls are extrtemely strong.
After a busy working life in journalism and education, I am now enjoying a peaceful retirement in a beautiful area of coast and country, where I divide my time between writing and photography. I also developed and ran a website for Felixstowe Museum on a voluntary basis until August 1, 2008.
